Cementos Progreso reinforces its commitment to its international logistics chain’s safety and efficiency by renewing its certification as an Authorized Economic Operator (OAS). The certification is granted by the Superintendence of Tax Administration (SAT). This appointment, awarded since 2020, promotes financial and operational solutions that streamline export and import activities.
The recent audit, conducted by SAT, confirms Cementos Progreso’s commitment to international standards of security and transparency. Alejandro Flores, Storage Manager at the San Miguel Plant, highlights the importance of these processes. They ensure continuity in export operations, thereby strengthening bonds between customs in Guatemala and the United States.
Diego Sacahuí, Support Process Manager in the Supply area, emphasizes that these protocols are applied both in imports and exports, ensuring a secure and efficient logistics chain while collaborating with other certified operators.
Since its establishment in 2010, the Guatemala Authorized Economic Operator Unit (OAS-SAT) has worked to strengthen control and assurance mechanisms for the international logistics chain. Cementos Progreso stands out as a benchmark in the implementation of these processes, thus contributing to the security and facilitation of international trade under current legislation.
OAS certification requires compliance with over 190 current requirements validated by SAT. Cementos Progreso exceeded more than 150 requirements in 2020 and continues to demonstrate its commitment through annual evaluations. As of December 2022, there were 91 OAS enabled in Guatemala, highlighting the positive impact of this program on the private sector.
In 2023, the processes and procedures related to import and export activities carried out at the San Miguel Plant, Sanarate, El Progreso, Guatemala were verified. They once again gained trust and became recipients of this certification.
Authorized Economic Operators are recognized as reliable and secure operators that comply with international security standards and customs regulations. This status grants facilities in commercial relationships with customs and is supported by more than 50 countries worldwide, including members of the European Union, the United States, Canada, and Latin American countries such as Mexico, Colombia, and Argentina.
The renewal of the OAS-SAT certification reflects Cementos Progreso’s ongoing commitment to safety, transparency, and efficiency in its international commercial operations, consolidating its position as a leader in the sector.
