Beatriz Lara, regional manager of Progreso's energy business, participates in Ministry of Energy and Mines' "Mujeres con Energía" campaign, highlighting the role of women in the energy sector and promoting their inclusion in Guatemala.

The energy sector in Guatemala is opening spaces to promote labor equality and highlight female talent.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines’ “Mujeres con Energía” (Women with energy) campaign seeks to highlight women leaders in this field and motivate more Guatemalan women to actively participate in careers related to Energy and Mines.

One of the leading figures in this campaign is Beatriz Lara, regional manager of Progreso’s Energy business.

With more than 25 years of experience in the energy and construction industry, Lara has become a key leader, working in areas such as national and regional energy commercialization in Central America and Mexico, energy efficiency, and evaluating power generation projects.

In addition, Lara is a board member of the Asociación de Comercializadores de Energía Eléctrica and the Gremial de Eficiencia Eléctrica, showcasing her commitment to the sector’s development.

Her participation in this initiative reflects her efforts to build a more inclusive and equitable environment.

Inspiring More Women to Participate

The campaign, which will run for two months, aims to encourage Guatemalan women to study careers in the energy and mining fields.

This not only contributes to their professional growth, but also helps break down cultural and labor barriers that have limited women’s participation in this historically male-dominated sector.

Throughout its history, Progreso stands out for encouraging the active participation of women in decision-making positions, promoting an inclusive, equitable and merit-based work environment that guarantees fair opportunities for all.

Highlighting the role of women like Beatriz Lara is key to inspire new women in the energy industry.

The active participation of women in the Energy and Mines sector is not only essential to promoting gender equality, but also contributes to the country’s sustainable development.

As Beatriz Lara’s leadership demonstrates, women are transforming the industry with their experience, innovation, and commitment.
