Lime is a versatile chemical product with multiple uses and applications. Apart from being a strategic ally in construction, this product offers numerous benefits for a wide variety of activities and practices around the house.
  1. Efficient Pet Waste Management Our pets are our beloved companions, but their messes can be unpleasant. By applying two tablespoons of hydrated lime from Horcalsa to pet waste, we achieve a bactericidal and biocidal effect, as well as eliminate odors, making it easier to dispose of them in the trash.

  2. Fungus-Free Pots and Planters With just one and a half tablespoons of hydrated lime from Horcalsa, one liter of water, and a sprayer, you can rid pots and planters of fungi that often appear in the winter. Mix the water and lime in the sprayer, let it sit for 20 minutes, and then shake again. The mixture should be used on the soil and on the sides of the pot, never directly on the plants.

  3. Horcalsa Hydrated Lime in Gardening Specifically for grass and crops, Horcalsa hydrated lime is used in gardening to improve soil and raise pH levels. By doing so, plants receive calcium and absorb nutrients better. It’s also used to control fungi common to acidic soils. Mix three tablespoons of Horcalsa hydrated lime in 1 liter of water and use a watering can to apply it, or spread hydrated lime abundantly directly on the grass and water.

  4. Disinfecting Fruits and Vegetables Horcalsa hydrated lime is also an important ally in the kitchen. Add one tablespoon of lime per liter of water and stir. The lime will not dissolve but will maintain a pH higher than 8. Dip the previously washed fruits and vegetables and let them soak for 15 minutes. It is scientifically proven to be one of the best and healthiest disinfection methods available.

  5. Candied Fruit Production To make candied, glazed, or crystallized fruits, soak the fruits in lime water to prevent them from losing their shape and texture. To do this, add two tablespoons of lime per liter of water and soak the fruits for 30 minutes.

  6. Soil Stabilization at Home Stabilize the entrances to your home with one bag of Horcalsa hydrated lime per cubic meter of clay soil at your doorstep. This stabilizes the clays, eliminates plasticity, and improves the soils.

  7. Sanitation and Management in Pit Latrines and Septic Tanks The human waste decomposition inside pit latrines is an anaerobic process, meaning it occurs biochemically in the absence of molecular oxygen. This process generates carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, methane, hydrogen sulfide, among others. To control odors and disinfect, use three cups of Horcalsa hydrated lime every 24 hours at the end of the day.

  8. Cat Litter Boxes with Lime Add a tablespoon and a half of Horcalsa hydrated lime to a liter of water. Pour the mixture into a bottle with a sprayer, and apply it to cat litter boxes. This will prevent the following: bad odors, eliminate bacteria and other microorganisms, control pests like flies, and extend litter-life.
