«Heroines of Science» Magazine presented by Carmen Lucía Barrios at ENA school

The magazine "Heroines of Science” was presented at the "Enrique Novella Alvarado" School by Carmen Lucía Barrios Guzmán, the outstanding aquaculturist.

The magazine «Heroines of Science” was presented at the «Enrique Novella Alvarado» School by Carmen Lucía Barrios Guzmán, the outstanding aquaculturist.

On February 3rd and 21st, Carmen Lucía Barrios, an outstanding aquaculturist, visited ENA school students at both the San Miguel and San Gabriel locations. The purpose of her visit was to motivate the school’s 168 students to pursue scientific careers, especially girls and young women.

“Here at the school, we firmly believe in science and technology education because these areas will help us find long-term solutions to build the country, we all want to live in.» said Gerald Schaeffer, Principal of the Enrique Novella Alvarado School.

The National Secretariat of Science and Technology’s – Senacyt – project: «Heroines of Science» showcases how 30 Guatemalan women scientists’ work is relevant.

Among the featured heroines are female engineers, doctors, biologists, neuroscientists, students, biochemists, psychologists, veterinarians, among other professions.
