José Raúl Gonzáles, CEO of Progreso, shares in Foreing Policy his enthusiasm for aligning the company's values of social and environmental sustainability with a new push to stimulate infrastructure growth in Guatemala.

In a recent publication of the U.S. media Foreign Policy, José Raúl González, Progreso’s CEO, expressed his optimism about what promises to be the beginning of a new era of opportunities for Guatemala.

Gonzalez, who leads the Guatemalan-born multi-Latin company, assures that Guatemala is at a transcendental moment, as there is a commitment from public and private institutions to develop and improve public services and infrastructure.

«The private sector must align with the commitment to restore the prestige of Guatemala’s public institutions».

The article highlights that Progreso is part of the group of companies supporting the «Guatemala Avanzando» initiative, which plans to carry out infrastructure projects for more than $7 billion US.

This project seeks to transform the country’s highway networks and connect the metropolitan area with other cities and ports in the country. At the same time it plans to generate close to 574 thousand jobs, increasing productivity and social inclusion in the country.
