New Mixes Horcalsa Ready: We innovate the tradition

Nuevas Mezclas Listas Horcalsa Progreso Latam Guatemala
In construction, the name mortar is given to a mixture of one or two binders and sand. Kneaded with water, the mixture gives rise to a plastic or fluid paste that later sets and hardens as a result of the chemical processes that take place in it.

The mortar adheres to the more or less irregular surfaces of bricks, blocks or studded walls and gives the set a certain compactness, adherence and resistance to compression.

Horcalsa Ready Mixes are mixed or bastard mortars, composed of cement, lime and limestone sands in controlled, homogeneous and high quality proportions.

Three layers

In traditional construction in Guatemala, 3 layers of material mixtures are applied to level the walls, protect them and beautify the walls of our buildings:

Construction system

  • Sabieta
  • Plaster
  • Sifting

The three components fulfill a specific function in the covering of the walls:

  • Sabieta : Rustic material to plumb (level) walls based on cement and sand. This material does not contain lime and also helps us to adhere the plaster to the wall.

  • Plaster: Mixed mortar composed of sand, cement, hydrated lime and water.

It is designed to fill and level interior and exterior surfaces to provide a rustic-looking finish or base for the final sift or topcoat application.

  • Sifting: Mixed mortar composed of sand, cement, hydrated lime and water.

It is the final layer and goes over the plaster to beautify, protect and give our constructions durability.

At Horcalsa we innovate tradition and we are launching two traditional ready mixes:

Repe-ya

Traditional pre-dosed and pre-mixed dry mortar composed of aggregates, hydrated lime and cement. It only requires you to add water. It complies with the COGUANOR NTG 41050 standard. This material is a high performance plaster for those cracked walls that need a covering mortar to level them, protect them and make the constructions durable with a rustic and thick finish.

Applications:

Thick layer mortar on concrete and pumice block walls or on properly slatted surfaces, indoors and outdoors to provide a rustic-looking finish.

Differentiator:

  • Uniform and controlled quality
  • Long lasting
  • Application in a single coat directly on Block or battered walls
  • Less waste on construction sites

Technical data:

  • Apply a uniform layer of 0.5 cm with a metal trowel in a greased way, half an hour later apply REPE-YA again to give 1 cm of total layer thickness.
  • Spray water onto the mortar 2 to 3 times a day for 7 days. Start the application of water approximately 6 hours after finishing the placement.

Rapicapa

Traditional pre-dosed and pre-mixed dry mortar composed of fine aggregates, hydrated lime and cement. It only requires you to add water. It complies with the COGUANOR NTG 41050 standard. This mixture is the screening that is prepared in traditional constructions to beautify and protect the walls of our constructions with a semi-fine finish.

Applications

Final coat mortar on concrete and pumice block walls or on properly plastered or battered surfaces, indoors and outdoors to provide a smooth, vertical and swirling finish.

Differentiator

  • Long lasting
  • Ready to use, easy application
  • Quality finishes
  • Less waste on construction sites

Technical data

  • Apply a 3mm layer in a greased way with a metal trowel. After approximately 2 hours, apply another 2mm coat. After approximately 30 minutes, run the final finish you want.
  • Spray water onto the mortar 2 to 3 times a day for 7 days. Start the application of water approximately 6 hours after finishing the placement
Important recommendations for both products:

1. In stacking and due to the density of these materials, they can tend to compact, giving the appearance of hardening. Knead the bag of products and it’s ready, the material returns to the original and loose state, ready to be prepared and applied.

2. Do not apply more than the water indicated in the technical data description.

3. Curing is important after applying the product, follow the instructions for the use indicated in the technical data section of this article.
