Guatemala is one of the most active countries in the global migration processes. It's no coincidence that it's part of a migration corridor where people from all over enter and leave every day. In 2023, the Carlos F. Novella Foundation, through the Tertiary Violence Prevention Program, La Factoría Ciudadana, supported Guatemalan Returnees with comprehensive strengthening processes.

In response to this migratory phenomenon, the Carlos F. Novella Foundation, through the Tertiary Violence Prevention Program, La Factoría Ciudadana, has contributed to supporting this population through individual, social, and technical strengthening so that they can improve their living conditions and successfully reintegrate into society.

Returned migrants are also Guatemalans

Returned migrants face various difficulties and often find themselves isolated from the social and economic system. Additionally, even though the vast majority of them have no criminal records, deportees are perceived as a problem by their fellow countrymen and encounter challenges in accessing the job market.

For these reasons, the Tertiary Violence Prevention Program, La Factoría Ciudadana, by 2023 will have assisted, 50 returned migrants referred from different institutions with which agreements and/or memoranda of understanding exist. Various services are provided according to the comprehensive model.

Processes such as individual psychological therapies, horse-assisted coaching, spiritual strengthening workshops, social strengthening, parenting diploma, leadership training, resilience and empowerment, intensive English, Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, employability, entrepreneurship, and financial education were received by migrants throughout 2023.

These activities focus on achieving the social reintegration of returned migrants by validating their emotions and skills acquired abroad.

What is La Factoría Ciudadana?

The purpose of this initiative by the Carlos F. Novella Foundation is to provide a variety of services such as psychosocial support and genuine, responsible accompaniment in the reintegration process. These individuals have had legal problems, achieving individual transformation to redirect their lives
