Since its inauguration, this plant has maintained high standards, consolidating itself as a pillar in the cement and lime industry for Guatemala and the region.

A history full of pride and passion

In 1974, the San Miguel Plant installed its first cement production line, marking the beginning of its path to excellence.

Five years later, in 1979, the second cement production line was added, significantly increasing its production capacity.

The year 1991 witnessed an important milestone with the installation of the first Horcalsa lime production line, thus diversifying its production.

In 1998, the plant continued its expansion with the installation of the third cement production line, reaffirming its commitment to the company’s sustainability and innovation.

The 2000s brought further progress. In 2005, the second Horcalsa lime production line was added, and in 2007 the Proverde alternative resources unit was created, focused on managing solid waste as part of the commitment to sustainability and the promotion of the circular economy.

The third Horcalsa lime production line was installed in 2010, consolidating Planta San Miguel as a leader in the production of high-quality lime.

More recently, in 2020, Planta San Miguel expanded its scope with the start of operations of AgroProgreso, an initiative that reflects its commitment to diversification and sustainable development.

In 2024, the Mixto Listo pre-dosed plant opened its doors, offering innovative and efficient solutions for construction and becoming a milestone for the industry.

For all this, Cementos Progreso’s San Miguel Plant continues its half-century legacy, operating under the highest standards of quality, efficiency and reaffirming its commitment to the safety of its employees and the well-being of the communities.

Celebrating with family
