The Carlos F. Novella School of Music strengthens music education with the Jaques Dalcroze Rhythmic Workshop, a methodology with more than 100 years of history and multiple health benefits.

The Carlos F. Novella School of Music has taken a significant step in the training of its teachers by receiving the Jaques Dalcroze Rhythmic Workshop.

This workshop, taught by Costa Rican experts, focused on strengthening teachers’ pedagogical skills through a methodology recognized worldwide.

Jaques Dalcroze rhythmics, with more than 100 years of history, is widely known in Europe for its impact on music education, from initial levels to higher levels in conservatories.

In addition to its educational value, this methodology has demonstrated multiple health benefits, supported by studies conducted in partnership with the University Hospital of Geneva, Switzerland.

Four days of learning

During the four-day workshop, teachers from the Carlos F. Novella School of Music explored the relationship between the body and music, focusing on body consistency, auditory development, and both body and instrumental improvisation.

The Jaques Dalcroze rhythmic methodology was the central axis, providing practical tools for teaching music.

The workshop also involved demonstration sessions for the School of Music students’ and the zone 6 neighbors.

These sessions were for teachers to take notes, and enable to them to apply the methodology and lessons learned in their classes.
