The AgroProgreso business unit which specializes in forestry solutions, was recently awarded the prestigious “Bóscares 2024” prize for the “Raíces de Vida” project.
Since 2020, AgroProgreso has transformed more than 7,369 hectares of forest ecosystems, incorporating products such as mesquite, flowers, and coffee, which access international markets while improving agroforestry practices.
AgroProgreso also has three nurseries capable of producing more than two million forest plants a year, and promotes rural tourism and agrotourism in its areas of influence.
The evaluation committee was comprised of experts from the Faculty of Social Responsibility of the Universidad Anáhuac, the UNDP Biodiversity Finance Initiative and Reforestamos Mexico. Six companies out of 454 were selected.
Four projects met the highest environment and biodiversity impact standards were recognized. Two projects were from Mexico and two in Central America.
The ceremony was held within the framework of the Forum of the Mexican Alliance for Biodiversity and Business (AMEBIN), which in this edition focused on the importance of water resources for biodiversity and business value chains.
This event positions AgroProgreso as a benchmark in environmental responsibility and sustainable development in the region.
