Carlos F. Novella Foundation, Real Madrid Foundation and Abbott promote nutritional education in Guatemala

Discover how the partnership between Fundación Carlos F. Novella, Fundación Real Madrid and Abbott boosts child development in our country through nutritional education and the detection of malnutrition in vulnerable communities.

Carlos F. Novella Foundation, Real Madrid Foundation and Abbott have joined forces to implement an innovative project in Guatemala, focused on nutrition education and early detection in children and adolescents.

This project, developed in the Socio-Sports Schools of the Real Madrid Foundation and the Carlos F. Novella Foundation, impacts more than 1,500 children between the ages of 5 and 17. It promotes building values and developing sports skills.

In an alarming context, where almost half of the children under five years of age in Guatemala suffer from chronic malnutrition, the United Nations has highlighted the urgent need to address this public health problem.

In addition to malnutrition, overweight and obesity are emerging problems in adolescents, underscoring the complexity of the nutritional landscape in the country.

Timely responses

To respond to this crisis, this partnership seeks to provide training to trainers and at-risk children, educating about healthy habits and promoting the use of practical tools such as the Mid Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) Measuring Tape.

This tool allows families and coaches to easily monitor the nutritional status of children, facilitating an effective approach to health professionals.

With these efforts, Fundación Carlos F. Novella seeks to have a positive impact on those it serves through strategic partnerships with institutions committed to health and children worldwide.
