Innovation with a purpose: Progreso X celebrates six years of promoting emerging technology
Progreso X celebrates six years as Progreso’s open innovation unit and corporate venture capital fund, responsible for creating, designing, and bringing disruptive ideas to life through collaborative innovation between Progreso, startups, and its ecosystem.
This business unit was founded in 2019 with a clear vision: to drive the development of disruptive solutions that transform the construction industry and generate strategic, sustainable, and multilateral value.
Since its inception, Progreso X has operated under two operating models: open innovation, focused on co-developing projects between startups and Progreso business units, and PX Ventures, an investment model that opens up new technological opportunities for the corporation’s shareholders.
Over these six years, the team has operated under three key verticals: Construction Systems, Sustainability, and Operational Efficiency.
These areas encompass topics such as affordable housing, new materials, energy solutions, the circular economy, IoT, artificial intelligence, and robotics, among others. The process begins with global strategic scouting.
Strategic Processes
Thanks to methodologies such as Exponential Changemakers (ECM), startups aligned with specific business challenges were identified.
These initiatives allow connection between specific needs with viable solutions, implementing pilot tests and scalability strategies in cycles ranging from technological validation to commercialization.
The numbers reflect the impact: more than 1,300 interactions with startups, 300 projects registered with ECM, representation from 35 countries, 28 executed projects, 18 active projects, and six completed editions.
All this thanks to the active participation of multiple Progreso business units and key partnerships with organizations such as Opinno, MIT REAP, Zacua Ventures, and La Mezcladora in Peru.
But the impact goes beyond data. Progreso X has managed to attract talent, position the company as a leader in innovation, accelerate its digital transformation, and foster a corporate culture open to change.
