Agrobosques: 35 years sowing for life

One of the main objectives of the program is to create Energy Forests. Cementos Progreso assumed as part of its social responsibility policy to conserve the environment.

Cementos Progreso assumed as part of its social responsibility policy to conserve the environment. Since 1930, the company has carried out reforestation processes and in 1985 founded the Agrobosques reforestation program.

The use of endemic species from reforested places is essential for the program, as it reduces the environmental impact of the care and use of trees.

The program works on three fundamental axes

Reforestation:

The program has two nurseries that have a capacity to produce two million plants per year. Endemic plants, timber and fruit trees are produced in these places.

Environmental education:

With Reforestamovil, the team of educators and trainers is mobilized to study centers and community places to inform about the importance of forests and local ecosystems.

Carbon Fixation:

In addition to the recovery of vegetation cover and the protection of water sources, the reforestation programs have produced 27 million 350 thousand trees, thereby contributing to the fixation of atmospheric carbon (CO2) in their trunks and leaves.

Since its inception, Cementos Progreso has worked for the conservation, promotion and protection of the environment. Agrobosques’ environmental contribution for 35 years demonstrates the company’s approach to sustainability. Since 1985 a reforestation program has been created in which more than 27 million trees have been planted to date.

«Uno de los objetivos principales del programa es crear Bosques energéticos, para manejar de forma racional la madera como fuente de energía renovable.»
