Progreso has taken an important step toward building safer, more humane, and sustainable communities, in zone 6. With the official delivery of land for the future Municipal Fire Station No. 14, an urban transformation begins that puts people at the center of development.
Progreso, through Inmobiliaria La Pedrera, officially delivered the land. This action is part of the planning process for the first phase of Ciudad La Pedrera, Antigua Pedrera, and marks the beginning of a transformative urban project.
Located next to the Cementos Progreso Stadium, the future station will serve as a strategic care and training center. It will house 16 firefighters and operate with eight-person shifts, in a 1,797.98 square meter facility on a 1,226.837 square meter lot. The infrastructure will strengthen emergency response capacity and consolidate community safety in the area.
The Municipality of Guatemala City supports this effort as part of the Opportunity Districts, a polycentric city model that seeks to integrate services, mobility, and urban equity. In the words of Vice President of Progress Tommy Dougherty: “This project is an example of how sustainability and solidarity can be transformed into concrete actions.”
Peter Giesemann, manager of La Pedrera Real Estate, emphasized that Station 14 represents the tangible start of a 150-hectare mixed-use urban project. La Pedrera City will allocate more than 40% of its surface area to public spaces, reflecting Progreso’s commitment to social well-being, sustainable planning, and the transformation of historic spaces.
