Héctor Ortíz: «One of the fundamental elements of Progreso DNA is resilience»

For 22 years Héctor Ortíz has known how to live through the significant changes that Progreso has experienced. He knows and trusts the Guatemalan company’s greatest value: its people.

Progreso’s local and regional growth as a company requires a very high level of commitment and work ethic. So says Héctor Ortiz, Progreso’s Culture and Organizational Development Manager, who recently received the «Awards of Happiness 2023», an award given to human resources professionals worldwide.

For more than 30 years, Hector has been able to generate tools and strategies to improve different companies’ work environments. For the last 22 years, he has been working directly at Progreso.

«I believe that companies must create and discover their own organizational culture, it is their DNA. The interesting thing is that at Progreso we all speak the same language; we are passionate about the same thing. That commitment is fundamental to the happiness we live.»

It is no coincidence that Progreso promotes leadership, responsibility, and the values embodied in the Code of Values, Ethics and Conduct -Covec-.

«Within Covec we speak about genuine leadership, from the Board of Directors to the operational positions, we are leaders by placing people at the center of all our operations. Our leadership is based on five strategic axes to which we are all committed. Our results are the product of solidarity and commitment in regards to the company’s long-term sustainability.»

One of Progreso’s main achievements, at the organizational level, is the constant search for employee well-being throughout all the company’s activities and businesses.

Strategic Partners

One of the most important achievements for Hector in recent years has been the commitment to excellence, and the capacity that employees have generated to serve as strategic partners for all the company’s clients.

«We are convinced our excellence-in-action contributes efficiently to our clients and partners by helping them achieve their purpose and goals. Gaining their trust is part of our team attributions, and during these years, we have reached that goal».

Hector has worked with all generations and hopes that with commitment and passion, the Progreso culture will continue to grow and remain an international benchmark. «I have been fortunate to work with Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials, and recently with Centennials. One of the most important characteristics they develop at Progreso is work mystique and commitment to the company’s sustainability.»

The sentence: «One of the fundamental elements of Progreso DNA is resilience. All employees without exception have developed this ability. They stand up in spite of adversity and rethink objectives in order to achieve goals together.»
