Investing in the Future: First CECODII opens on the South Coast

The CECODII, Centro Comunitario de Desarrollo Infantil Integral, first in the South Coast, will benefit more than 40 mothers and 60 children between the ages of 0 and 4, providing them with comprehensive care including education and nutrition.

In Guatemala, comprehensive early childhood care is of vital importance. Within this context, the Carlos F. Novella Foundation and AGRECA join forces to carry out a project that will positively impact the lives of children and mothers that live in Chicacao, Suchitepéquez, where the Caserío El Rancho is located.

The first step taken was to identify the specific needs of the area, and this CECODII became the 17th CECODII implemented by the foundation, but the first on the south coast. The work of the Carlos F. Novella Foundation and Progreso Social License teams was fundamental in analyzing and identifying the needs of the population.

Throughout the process, the Ministry of Education, the Departmental Directorate of Suchitepéquez, and the technical teams of this department were helped. CECODII was inaugurated on September 19, 2023, supporting comprehensive child development in the region.

CECODII impacts the entire community

In one sentence, the project’s impact can be summarized as: «We invest in the present of early childhood to generate communities that make their children visible, by educating them throughout life.» CECODII not only benefits participating children and mothers but also lays the foundation for sustainable community development, where children are the main focus of attention.

CECODII

The First Community Center for Integrated Child Development «CECODII» is an example of how collaboration between organizations can have a positive impact on society. By focusing on early childhood and community sustainability, this project is not only changing lives on Guatemala’s southern coast but also planting the seeds of a better future for the entire region. It is a powerful reminder that investing in child development is investing in the future.
