After the fire in the town of El Cayo, Guanaja on October 2nd, the partnership “We are with Guanaja” was born, in which national and international companies have been present to bring relief to those affected by the incident.

Thanks to this important partnership, via the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Tegucigalpa, the important Progreso Company, of Guatemalan origin, has joined by contributing the sum of 284,625.00 lempiras, which through the Honduran Red Cross will be used for reconstruction work.

Guillermo Monroy, Corporate Citizenship Manager of Cementos Progreso, stated that “The contribution made to the Honduran Red Cross will be used to support humanitarian efforts in the area affected by the fire that broke out in the town of El Cayo, Guanaja, on October 2. The houses on the island are mostly made of wood. As the fire spread among them, more than 220 houses were totally or partially affected. The victims were children between 2 and 17 years old (33.81%), and 9.97% are people over 60 years old.”

Congruent with its corporate values of responsibility and integrity, under the premise “We build together the country where we all want to live,” PROGRESO reaffirms its commitment to develop countries in which it operates. It does so with responsible practices and solidarity, especially with the families that on this occasion have been affected, as people themselves are one of the company’s most valuable components.
