The Salvadoran Team visits San Gabriel Plant

A team of Salvadoran employees visited the San Gabriel plant as part of the “Amigos Progreso” program, reinforcing the company’s commitment to cement production quality and environmental responsibility.

As part of the Amigos Progreso program, the San Gabriel Plant, located in San Juan Sacatepéquez, Guatemala, enthusiastically received a visit from a group of employees from El Salvador.

This event allowed us to strengthen ties between teams and share experiences on cement production with high quality standards and environmental responsibility.

During the visit, the Salvadoran employees toured the plant’s facilities, learning about each stage of the cement production process.

From raw material extraction to final packaging, the company’s commitment to efficiency and sustainability stood out.

This approach allowed visitors to appreciate the practices we implement to guarantee a quality product that meets regional market needs.

San Gabriel Plant: A reference in the region

The San Gabriel Plant is recognized as one of the most modern in Latin America.

Inaugurated in 2018, it’s production capacity is 2.2 million metric tons of cement per year. It also has a nursery that annually produces half a million pylons of forest species and has a waste water re-use system capable of treating 22 thousand cubic meters of wastewater for irrigation.

These initiatives reflect the company’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development of nearby communities.

The Amigos Progreso program has been fundamental in promoting educational and exchange visits at Progreso’s production plants.

During this time, tours have been organized for university students and representatives of international organizations, community leaders, and government authorities, allowing us to share best practices and strengthen relationships among various sectors.

During the Salvadoran team’s visit, the importance of environmental responsibility was emphasized at each stage of the production process.

The employees learned about technologies implemented to minimize environmental impact and proper waste management. These practices ensure a balance between production and natural environment conservation.

The positive impact of the plant on nearby communities was also highlighted. The company has developed social support, education, and health programs, contributing to the well-being of the inhabitants from San Juan Sacatepéquez and surrounding areas. This comprehensive approach demonstrates that industrial growth can go hand in hand with community development.

The visit also allowed for an exchange of ideas and experiences between the teams from Guatemala and El Salvador.

This type of meeting, strengthens regional collaboration and fosters implementation of continuous improvement within production processes.

By learning first-hand about the San Gabriel plant’s successful practices, Salvadoran employees can adapt and replicate these initiatives in their own operations, raising quality standards throughout the region.
