Macro Drill Tests Industrial Safety at Saint Gabriels’ Plant

In commemoration of the 1976 earthquake (48 years ago), a large-scale drill was conducted in Guatemala City to strengthen emergency response. In pursuit of its supplier's and team members’ well-being, Progreso conducted a general evacuation of the San Gabriel plant to assembly points, refining internal evacuation and emergency protocols.

Safety and well-being of Progreso’s employees, customers, and suppliers are pillars and pride of the company’s organizational culture.

To participate in the city’s large-scale drill, Progreso activated the evacuation system, involving all employees at the San Gabriel plant to move to designated assembly points.

This drill allowed to test the effectiveness of emergency response protocols, and identify areas for improvement to implement them before a real situation arises.

In total, 518 people were evacuated in an orderly and efficient manner, distributed across 10 pre-defined meeting points.

This exercise strengthens the culture of prevention at Progreso and contributes to the preparation and coordination of response to any emergency.

The Importance of Drills

These massive exercises are part of the internal civil protection programs of the countries and allow identifying situations that in an emergency could become situations that affect people’s well-being.
