Granito de Oro 2023, meet the winners of this new edition

Recognition is a fundamental aspect of our Leadership Agenda, seeking to encourage those behaviors and practices that, due to their value, are essential to continue generating "Progress in everything we do".

For the fourteenth time, Progreso awarded different business units’ ideas and good practices through the «Granito de Oro» awards, which took place on September 29th.

The categories where the 62 participating projects competed were: Creating Value, Develop, Grow, Strengthen, and Improve.

Granito de Oro is an event that recognizes the importance of innovation, coupled with the Progreso culture as the motor to achieve new goals, inspired by the company’s founder, Carlos F. Novella.

«There is no doubt that at Progreso we have exceptional, highly committed teams that act with integrity, achieving outstanding results and acting in coherence with our corporate values,» said José Miguel Torrebiarte, President of Progreso.

The winners

The event highlighted the innovative spirit of participating teams that took part in each of the award-winning initiatives.

In the «Creating Value» category, the award was given to Ferrepunto. Led by Pablo Fuentes.

In the «Develop» category, Pedro Campo’s team won the Golden Granite with the project: «Updating 20 years after the Blue Book «Specifications and Standards for the construction of roads and bridges».

Three initiatives were recognized in the «Grow» category. Miguel Guzmán and his team won the Golden Granite with the project «Successful 100-day integration plan for Cementos Progreso Costa Rica and El Salvador».

The second phase of waste cleaning in the Motagua River for co-processing at the San Miguel Plant, won the «Strengthen» category, while the «Win to Win» initiative, which enhances San Miguel Plant’s reaction speed, was the winner in the «Improve» category.
